A community of students at North South University (NSU), united by a shared passion for solving problems through algorithms and code.
We participate in Competitive Programming (also known as Sports Programming), a mind sport where participants compete in solving mathematical and logical programming problems writing computer programs. For us, Competitive Programming is more than just an extra-curricular activity; it's a passion.
We are an NSU student community — by competitive programmers, for competitive programmers. Our mission is to nurture, advance, and promote the art and science of competitive programming within NSU, and to make our mark in the broader competitive programming landscape.
Most notably, our efforts are focused on making our mark in the prestigious International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). We also participate in other nationally held Inter-University Programming Contests (IUPCs). We represent NSU in these contests.
We are trained and mentored by coaches with strong track records. Our coaches are also responsible for forming teams to represent NSU. However, in many ways, we are self-directed in our learning journey, with peer-learning forming the backbone of our knowledge-sharing culture.
Besides competing and training, we organize regular contests and workshops to nurture the broader NSU student body. We host a semesterly Bootcamp to introduce beginners to competitive programming and integrate them into our community.
Although Competitive Programming is the thread that ties us together, the NSUPS community is built on trust, respect, sportsmanship, a shared passion for learning and growth, and a desire for excellence.
We strive to uphold the highest standards of fairness and integrity when competing or judging. Competitive fairness is non-negotiable for us, and we expect all our members to adhere to this principle strictly.
But outside of contests, our operating mode is one of spirited collaboration and teamwork, making all of our community activities possible and thriving. In fact, we see each other more as friends than competitors.
Traditionally, the ties we foster within the community form into lifelong bonds that transcend our shared passion for competitive programming and continue to support us in both our personal and professional lives.
